Man Attacked With Shovel By Two Men At Cobham Motorway Services Left Fighting for his Life

Police have locked down a major service station on the M25 “Cobham Services” after a man was attacked with a shovel.An ambulance and an air ambulance was sent to the scene just after 3.30pm on Monday afternoon. A man has been airlifted to hospital after suffering serious head injuries. Staff have been removed from the scene via a back door.

The service station, between junction 9 Leatherhead and junction 10 A3, was closed at around 3.30pm on Monday (June 26) while police dealt with the incident. The Shell filling station remained closed off whilst scene of crime officer examine a blue Ford Focus and carry out a fingertip search of the area. Police have yet to confirm if the attackers have been arrestted. A customer who asked not to be named said that two men attacked the driver and drove off in a works van. It happened very quickly and It was very scarey. The customer went on to say that the man was on the floor in a heap and he looked pretty bad.

The air ambulance and the medics where working on him for a long time.  A spokesman for Surrey Police said “:Surrey Police is in attendance at Cobham Services, M25, following a call at 3.20pm about a man having suffered serious injuries. There is currently no fuel available at Cobham Services as the petrol station has been closed. The rest of the services are now fully open. If you have any information, please call 101 quoting P17159125.”

A spokesperson for South East Coast Ambulance Said ” The service was alerted at around 3.30pm; an ambulance and air ambulance were sent to the scene. We responded to reports the man had suffered a serious head injury at the services. The man was airlifted to St George’s Hospital in Tooting for further treatment.”
